Microsoft 365 migration without losing a week of email
A migration done in a hurry leaves people missing mail, shared files with the wrong permissions, and a new tenant with every security setting at its default. As a Microsoft Partner, we plan the move so staff log in on Monday and their work is where they expect it.
Where we migrate from
Each source system has its own pitfalls, and the plan is built around them.
- Google Workspace: mail, calendars, contacts and Drive to Exchange Online and OneDrive/SharePoint
- On-premises Exchange or a hosted Exchange provider
- Another Microsoft 365 tenant, after a merger, acquisition or rebrand
- File servers and personal drives into SharePoint and Teams
The migration plan
We inventory mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution lists and file shares, then decide with you what moves, what is archived and what is retired. Mail is copied in the background while people keep working, and the final cutover is scheduled for a quiet window.
Domain and DNS changes, phone and tablet profiles, and printer scan-to-email settings are part of the plan, because those are the details that generate calls on day one.
Security configured before the first login
A new tenant is the easiest moment to set security right. We turn on multi-factor sign-in, block legacy authentication, set sharing defaults for files and Teams, and configure email protection, so the migration also closes gaps the old system had.
Eligible nonprofits can often receive Microsoft 365 licenses through Microsoft’s nonprofit program; we can apply for that as part of the project.
Frequently asked questions
- Will we lose old email during the move?
- No mail is deleted from the source system during migration. We agree with you how much history moves and keep the old system readable until you confirm everything arrived.
- Do staff need training?
- We provide short guides for the changes people notice, such as Outlook profiles and where shared files now live, and the help desk takes questions in the first weeks.
- Can you manage the tenant after the migration?
- Yes. Ongoing Microsoft 365 administration is part of our managed IT plans, or we hand over documentation to your team.
